Baby Shower Mania

Now that some of the madness has died down, I can finally post about the baby showers that I threw recently. The first one was for my good friend, Rachel. She actually had her little boy, Caleb, a few days ago. Unfortunately, he has been in the NICU and I am not sure how he is doing:( I am sure that things will turn out ok, it is just so sad when they come into this world sick. Her shower was really small, but perfect. It was so nice to catch up with friends. Here is the mommy to be:

She was taking the top of this darling cake home to snack on later.

Oh I wish I were so talented... Nope didn't make the cake, in case you missed my last claim for cake decorating, check out this post. One of these days, I will suprise you and do a great job decorating a cake. I did however make this cake:

We had some yummy food too!

I never got a picture of the clothes line with all the clothes on it. Not sure why I dropped the ball on that, but here it is half way done:

Here are the guests:

It was such a fun night and I am so glad that I got to throw it for Rachel. I hope her little boy gets to go home soon!

The second shower was last week and it was for my sister in law, AmyLyn.

Some yummy cupcakes that fell victim to my dessert decorating curse. Luckily, my sister's husband fixed the frosting before anyone saw them. Thanks Rich!

The best lemonade EVER!

The food. Oh what I would do for another one of these chicken salad sandwiches.

Here is another diaper cake that I made.

The favors:

Another clothes line that I messed the picture up on. This one at least had the clothes, but I couldn't get a decent picture of it with the windows. Oh well, I tried.

10 Months

It kind of seems like the only time that I blog now is for Averie's little updates. At least I am blogging I guess! She is afterall the center of our lives. Today our little monkey turns 10 months!
DSCN2159
She is getting so close to a year and I can't believe it.

Averie has grown quite a bit this past month. Here are her stats:
Weight: 19.4 lbs
Height:

She is already wearing 12 months size clothes and I am pretty sure she is not going to fit into her cute 12 month dress on her birthday that I bought her a year ago! Oh well, I guess we will just have to do some shopping!

This month as I mentioned before, Averie started crawling! Yay, or nay? With her new mobility she has started following me everywhere. I laugh because the dog and the cat follow me everywhere already. The three amigos I guess. Sometimes I forget that she is crawling and it freaks me out when I have something pulling on my pant legs. Here she is on the bathroom floor nekkid because I was getting her bath ready and she followed me in.
DSCN2232
She LOVES her "puppy". Best Friends!
She is so flexible. She must get that from her daddy. He is the only man I have met that can do the splits. Crazy! Here she is being "naughty" in the cat food. Crap, I didn't even think about that.
DSCN2230
She is really stating the understand that the other baby in the mirror is her! Such a cutie!
DSCN2217
She claps about over everything now. Happy or sad. It is her way to express her joy or the start of her temper tantrums. Silly girl.
DSCN2222

Her hair is so funny. It is the oddest lenghts all over her head. She has some hair that is super long on top, but it is pretty short where it has started to fill in. Some day her hair will be "normal".
DSCN2236

Averie is not really that close to walking, but she can hold herself up standing. She takes huge steps when I hold her fingers and walk with her. It is pretty funny to watch.
DSCN2225

We decided to move the crib down when we realized she could do this
DSCN2179

I have been finding her in the craziest positions in her crib.
DSCN2171
I don't know how this can be comfortable.
DSCN2213

Whenever I take her out, everyone always comments that she has the biggest brown eyes they have ever seen. I think her cousin, Caleb, can contend with her.
DSCN2206
Here she is just sitting on Caleb. It was so funny and sad at the same time. Caleb was crying and Averie was just like, "What?"
DSCN2210

Averie has been sooo sick for sooo long. We call her our "Petri Dish". Poor thing has been through a week of long fevers, teething, pink eye, and now she has a horrible cough and is so hoarse. It is pretty adorable to hear that sad little hoarse cry. I hope she gets better soon.
DSCN2165
You can tell she is starting to get pink eye here.
DSCN2216

She has 4 teeth so far, but I have spotted one more on its way in.
She still says Mamma, Dadda, Pappa (sometimes).
She loves music and always starts dancing when a song comes on she likes.
She is getting much more snuggly and always wants to be held.
She loves anything and everything you put in her mouth. She is such a good eater.

We love this girl so much! Happy 10 months little one!

She Crawls

Well no more of this face:Averie has figured out how to crawl! I haven't decided if this is a good thing or not, but exciting nevertheless. Kind of funny that this picture was taken Monday and then today she figured it out. I was wondering if this day would ever get here. She has been doing this backward scoot thing for 2 months. I just kept thinking that she was super close, but she would never go forward. Well given the right motivation, a tooth brush in this video, Averie crawls!

I know it's hard to believe, but sometimes Averie is a "white trash" baby. Brian just picked her up from Day Care and she is always a total wreck when we pick her up. Apparently she had puked on herself-which explains why she has no shirt on and is sporting the wife beater onesie. Her hair is a mess, of course. And shoes? You're kidding right?!? ;) In my babysitter's defense, she does have a lot of kiddos to tend to.
Anyway, can you believe it? My baby is crawling!

The difference between men and women

So for those of you that have seen Averie lately, you probably have noticed she is HUGE! January brought on a huge growth spurt and my little baby has some how turned into a miniature toddler. She is already in 12 months clothes and they are already starting to get tight on her. We decided that at almost 20 pounds, our little munchkin is getting too heavy to carry around in her car seat. Over the weekend we upgraded to this:
Now this post was actually meant to tell a funny story of while we were shopping for this thing. At first Brian was a little reluctant to go shopping for a new car seat because, "we already have one." A common response from the Y chromosome. To prove my point of the differences between genders in shopping for baby things I will tell you about my observation of another couple that was shopping for a car seat the same day we were:

Wife: (As the husband is looking at some of the car seats) "Now we can't get that car seat because it is forward facing."
Husband: "Why can't she be forward facing?"
Wife: "Because she is too young and needs to still be rear facing."
Husband: "Well why can't we just use the one we have then?"
Wife: "Well because she's outgrown it."

Husband rolls his eyes and sighs.. I am trying not to laugh as I am eavesdropping. It just seemed like a very familiar conversation. Their discussion went on to they style of the car seat and it was pretty funny as well.

Wife: "Oh this one has purple flowers! Lets get this one."
Husband: "We're not getting that one. We are getting one that is black so that we can use it for when we get a son."

Oh it just made me laugh knowing that Brian is not the only one that thinks the way he does. I would just like to add that I would never buy a car seat with purple flowers which proves not all women think alike.
