Weekend Fun

So far the Labor Day weekend has not disappointed. Well other than the fact that the sky looks like this right now: (of course we spent two hours washing the car yesterday;)
Other than the stormy weather today, we have taken full advantage of the long weekend. Brian and I went on a fun mountain bike ride last night. We drove the Explorer up to the top of the canyon that is behind our house. We rode the bikes down this trail through the canyon. The trail was so beautiful, but so miserable at the same time. It was so rocky and slick. I was complaining the entire time. Of course Brian was just riding along like it was the easiest thing that he had ever done. I hate that about men...While I am huffing and puffing trying my absolute hardest to not crash down the mountain, Brian is right behind me, no big deal. Sorry no pictures. I was too concerned about not dying. Good news though, we got our camera back from getting fixed! Olympus rocks by the way. We sent the camera in to see if they could even fix it. We were afraid that they would either charge us a lot or not even be able to fix it. Well we got it back and they replaced pretty much the entire camera. It looks brand new! Plus they didn't even charge us. How about that for service? Here are pictures from the day that it died in the pool. Hopefully, it will stay "waterproof" the next time we take it in the water.
Just in case you were wondering, Yes it is really hard to smile and take a picture of yourself under water. We had to shoot this pose about 5 times before we got it.

Here we are at the pool at our Clubhouse. This is the first and only time we have used the pool. Good thing we pay 110 bucks a month to have it huh?

Just catching some rays on the floaters.
So now that I have established the return of the camera, I will show you what I have been up to all weekend. I am trying to get back in the habit of quilting and such since I don't have class any more. I have made a few different quilts. I decided to try making a rag quilt this weekend. Everyone says that it is the easiest quilt to make. I 100% disagree! Maybe it is easy to make, but the time it consumes is the challenge. I spent most of Friday cutting the fabric. I cut out 360 squares. Then I had to sew them all together in stacks of three. Not to mention the countless mistakes I made in the process such as sewing the fabric in the wrong direction (which was the most irritating). Anyway, after several hours (and several curse words) I completed my first rag quilt. It did turn out pretty cute. I am mostly excited because this is the first quilt that I have ever made for myself. No one is getting this one from me!
Do not attempt to make one of these quilts with out a rotary cutter. Honestly this thing saved my sanity!

Here Sergeant is helping out.
It is so much easier to measure and cut the material when you have someone sitting on it. I'm telling you dogs can be a great help when you are trying to quilt.
Here is the back just before I threw it in the wash to create the "rag" look.

Here is the finished product. Yay! It's done!!

Sergeant versus the World

Sorry that the video is really dark, but it was so funny, I had to post it! For the entire time that we have been married, we have had this globe sitting on our coffee table. We have had Sergeant since February, and not once has he ever noticed the globe. (Lucky for us, because now it is his sworn enemy). Brian and I were sitting on the couch talking about where we wanted to go on vacation next (I know we are so exciting) and we picked up the globe. Sergeant freaked out! His entire mission was to destroy the evil sphere and protect us. Dogs can be so entertaining. Of course we had to grab the video camera and reenact the entire event. The globe now sits on the side couch table, out of Sergeant's sight. I guess on the positive side of things, at least we have a dog that is willing to risk his life to save us from evil doings of interior decorations...

Summer's End

What can I say about August 21st? Hmm. Summer is unfortunately coming to an end and Brian will be starting school again next week.... I always seem to get depressed this time of year, but this year will be the exception. I need to keep in mind that this year is different than other years because:
1. I graduated from school!!!! Yipee!!!!
2. I am playing on a few softball leagues! What could be better?
3. Did I mention no school?
4. I only have one month and 9 days left to spend with Ryan before he leaves to Canada for his mission.
5. Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and the Office seasons start!

Well those are the only good things I can think of right now, but I am going to try my hardest to make it a great Fall.

Our Summer So far...

Well I have some bad news! Our "waterproof" camera died this weekend. We took it to the pool and took a lot of awesome pictures to post on the blog, but I think some water got inside the camera. I am so mad. We just got that camera in May. We have taken it in the water several times and had no problem (since it is supposed to be WATERPROOF). Oh well. Since I don't have any new pictures to blog, I thought that I would post some pictures from our wonderful summer this year. Enjoy!

Cruise May 2008:

So I have the most amazing inlaws ever. Brian's parents suprised us this year with a cruise vacation! We flew into LA and sailed down to Cabo San Lucas. From Cabo we stopped at Mazalan and Puerta Vallarta. It was so much fun. The best part is that it just so happened to fall on our 1 year anniversary. How nice are they? Seriously, it was the best vacation. Thanks Bob and Cathi!

This is the Anderson Fam. Bob, Cathi, Brian, Me, Matt (Bri's Brother), and Lyndee (Matt's wife)

This is Lover's Beach in Cabo San Lucas. The tides were coming in so strong that day. It was very difficult to get to this side of the beach. We had to time the waves and run as fast as we could to avoid getting slammed against the rocks. There were a few people that got hurt pretty bad. Luckily, our timing was down and we managed to beat the waves. It was worth it, this picture is amazing!

This is a picture of me being taken advantage of by the locals. "Here hold this lizard." "Ok! That sounds like fun." "Alright that will be ten dollars." Geez they rip you off any way they can!

This was the last formal night on the ship. Doesn't Brian look sharp? It was fun to get dressed up. We really should do that more often.

The water is very dark and cloudy in the Pacific Ocean. Not knowing this, we decided to go snorkling in Puerta Vallarta. I was so dissappointed! We bought the "waterproof" camera specifically to go snorkling, but none of the pictures turned out in the dark water. Anyway, I guess our guide was sick of hearing me complain because he dove down in the water and found a starfish for me to look at.

This is Brian enjoying some Cocunut Milk. I didn't really like the taste of it that much, but it was kind of fun to walk the streets drinking from a coconut.

We made it!! One year May 08,2008.

Hiking By Our House:

Brian and I found a fun little canyon just up the street from our house. It is mostly owned by Kinnikot (ya I have no idea how to spell that). There are a lot of mines trails that we have managed to explore.
This is Bri free climing over some grafitti. There are so many neat places up the canyon that would be great for climbing. We couldn't find any bolts in the rock though. Oh well.

Here I am trying to look tough. Don't be fooled though, that rock is only about 3 feet tall. Ha ha.

This is us at the top of the mountain. We rode our four wheelers up this day. You can see the mine behind us. I could not believe how high up we were. We could see all the way from Utah Lake to the Great Salt Lake. We also could see Toole all the way past the East bench. The view was amazing.

Happy Birthday Kellie, Dune Trip:

My birthday is the best birthday there could ever be. It was July 4th. Sadly, everyone I know had plans on my birthday. Brian and I decided to go to the Little Sahara Sand Dunes. My first Dune trip ever! It was hot, dusty, and windy, but we had a blast.

Here I am all "geared" up. Safety First!

This was taken in the middle of nowhere. At least I had Brian to protect me.

I couldn't ask for a better sunset. Seriously, it was gorgeous!

Pioneer Day:

Since I didn't get any fireworks for my birthday, I made Brian take me to the Bees game on July 24th. I love watching baseball and the environment makes it so much fun. We ate hotdogs, peanuts, cotton candy, and pretzels. We definately enjoyed our night out at the ballgame.

Well as of now, those are the highlights from the summer. Hopefully we get a new camera soon so I can post some new pictures!

Here you go AmyLynn!!

1. Fridge: Pretty empty, but at least we have lots of condiments and water!

2. Our Closet: It actually is very tidy, we just have a ton of clothes.

3. Self Portrait: This is what I look like after a 20 mile bike ride. We rode from our house (clear out past Bangater Highway) almost to I-15. I almost puked and it made me so loopy! 4. Favorite Room: Family Room, well it was the only room that was really clean;) Plus I had to show off the new TV!!

5. The Kitchen Sink: Thanks Bri for cleaning it! It looks great.

6. The Laundry Room: You probably cannot tell by the picture, but I put a lot of work into this room. The walls and the moldings were all white and I had to patch a huge hole that was in the wall. (Hints why I put up letters to cover what paint wouldn't).

7. The Toilet: Hmm Looks inviting doesn't it?

8. What are the kids doing right now: Well I never know where that hoodlum Mia is. She never even talks to me anymore....(for those of you that didn't read the first blog, Mia is my cat) Sergeant is just lying on his back enjoying his bone. Good Boy!

9. Dream Vacation: Brian and I are really fortunate and we have already been on my dream vacation, Italy. We are planning a trip to Australia next year though. I can't wait!

10. My favorite pair of Shoes: Um "pair"?? HA! I will post my 4.

These ones are my absolute favorite. You can tell by how worn they are. The heel is worn down to the nail. I probably should throw them away, but I just love them!

Brian told me that I had to buy some white, wedged shoes this summer. These are the ones I picked out. Looks like my toes have left some stains...gross

Just some cute black ones. Love the bow!

These are my work shoes and they are the most comfortable pair of shoes that I have ever owned. I would highly recommend them to anyone who works on their feet all day.

11. Brian requested that I add one more, the GARAGE (so he can show off his toys):

Ok so there you go! Now I tag everyone to do this post, you better get busy!!!

Indecisive Me

So I have the most thoughtful husband. While I write this blog, he is slaving away in the kitchen. He told me that I was not allowed to help with dinner tonight and I had to leave the kitchen immediately. Ok....well now what do I do? After sitting quietly on the couch for a few minutes watching him work, I decided that I would try to look "busy" on the computer:) I will tell you all how indecisive I am. Yesterday my mom called me to tell me that there was a dining table at Smiths for 300 dollars. Now we don't really need a table, but this one was so cute and cheap. I called Brian for permission, and after he said it was ok, I swiped my credit card and had a brand new table. Yay!! Right? Nope, I started to put it together today and decided that it just wasn't the table for me. Ha ha. I can't believe myself. I compared the chairs to the ones we already have and realized that they were pretty much the exact height. I really wanted to get a counter height square table. I guess I didn't realize how short the table was until I got it home. (Since there wasn't a counter to compare it to in the store). Much to my dismay, I had to repack the box that everything came in. Of course I wasn't very careful when I was taking it apart, so it was like piecing a puzzle back together again. Well it is finally back in the box and now I have to figure out a way to return this 154 pound mistake!! Oh I was going to post pictures of the two tables, but my battery just died. Perfect timing! I will post pictures when I get the table I really want.

School is officially out!

So after six years of hard work, I am officially done with school! Yipee! It has been a long road, but I finally graduated with a Bachelor of Science. For those of you that don't know, I am working as a X-ray tech in Provo right now at a little Sports Medicine Clinic. As for Brian, he just finished his finals yesterday for summer semester! I think that I am more excited than he is. For the next three weeks, we will be spending our free time doing whatever we want! No more four hour study sessions every night. We are going to enjoy every minute we have together until fall semester starts:( Only another year until he graduates with his Bachelor of Business. I can't wait. It will be so nice for both of us to be finished with school. I almost don't know what to do with myself now that I am just working full time with no extra responsibilities. (other than enjoying every minute of it) I guess I will have lots of free time to work on this blog!
